Two years ago, sustainability consultants spent most of their time wrestling with spreadsheets instead of helping clients reduce emissions. Manual emission factor mapping took weeks. Data validation was a nightmare. And getting suppliers to share their data? Nearly impossible.

We’ve spent those last two years fixing all of that. And we’ve really taken off in 2024 👇

What changed in 2024

The launch of Avarni V2, a complete re-architecture of our platform, transformed how consultants work with emissions data:

  • Enterprise workloads with millions of rows can be handled on Avarni for even the largest clients
  • Expanded Scope 3 coverage now handles 14 of 15 categories (excluding investments), with automated factor mapping and validation tools
  • Factor Explorer lets you search and apply emission factors by address, city, or region - essential for accurate Scope 2 calculations
  • Enhanced forecasting with scenario cloning and comparison features that make it easy to model different reduction strategies
  • Streamlined supplier engagement with cohort management, targeted questionnaires, and automated reminders that boost response rates
  • Automated region matching that intelligently maps countries to relevant regions (e.g., Mongolia to Asia) when specific factors aren't available
  • Audit logs that automatically record any changes made in the Emissions Hub
  • Smarter emission factor mapping that intelligently links related terms, ensuring the appropriate factor is identified (e.g. “banana” to “fresh fruits”)

We also introduced white labeling, letting consultants present the platform under their own brand, and comprehensive audit logs that make verification straightforward.

But the real story isn't in the features — it's in what consultants achieved with them.

City of London Corporation

The City of London Corporation published its first Responsible Procurement Impact Report in June 2024. The report outlines how the City Corporation partnered with Avarni in 2023 to significantly reduce emissions across its supply chain. By working closely with 23 key suppliers, they collected data to create a tailored supplier factor, using DEFRA emissions factors on spending to drive impactful change. For more information on how we're working together, see page 13 of the report.

Analyst coverage in 2024

Avarni continued to gain recognition from leading industry analysts for our innovative approach to carbon management in 2024:

What's Next?

As we move into 2025, new regulations like ASRS and CSRD will create enormous opportunities for sustainability consultants, accountants, legal firms, and all sorts of other trusted advisors to businesses to help them navigate these new requirements.

Without technology as the foundation upon which these advisory services are offered, their time will all be spent on manual data entry & chasing up errors. That’s not what they need.

Avarni is excited to double down on being simply the best carbon accounting platform for sustainability advisors and consultants, and we can’t wait to work with even more amazing partners and customers on this mission next year.

Thank you for a remarkable 2024

A sincere thank you to the Avarni team, our customers, partners, and investors for making 2024 a remarkable year. Your support and collaboration have been instrumental in driving positive change and advancing our mission. We’re excited to build on this momentum in 2025 as we continue to refine and expand Avarni to be the best carbon accounting platform for sustainability consultants.
